Life and Style in Southern CA

Black Swimsuit / Chiffon Sarong / Studded Bow Sandals / Straw Hat /
Similar Straw Tote here and here

Buongiorno, friends! Happy to share this fabulous black swimsuit, which is another great Prime find for under $30. When I posted it to my Instagram (@heysweetkay) last week, I mentioned how flattering it is - it's one of those suits that looks great on everyone! I ordered a size small, and it fit me just right. I also paired it with this chiffon sarong, which I also found on Prime for ten bucks! And lastly, I've had my eye on these jelly bow sandals and ordered them for this trip. They compare to the rockstud Valentino flip flops but are only $20. Be sure to size up half a size, btw.

I was so happy to be back at the pool...or should I say pools (there are 7!) at the Bellagio. I stayed there for the first time last year, and it was one of the best poolside experiences I've had. The grounds are just gorgeous - it doesn't feel like you're in Vegas at all hahah. My favorite thing to do is wake up early, head downstairs to the Patisserie for a pastry (my favorite is the cheese danish), and save a chaise before it's crowded. Then I just park myself for a couple of hours and catch up on social media, read a good book, or watch a show. Pure bliss!!

That's all for today! I've been sick for 4 days now, so I'm just resting and getting verrrryyy bored, ha! xoxo

Aqua Pom-Pom Romper / Street Level Rattan Circle Bag / Sunglasses / Halogen Espadrille Sandal

I was figuring out what to blog about today, and I realized I never shared this little romper I wore in Las Vegas. It's just so cute with the pom-pom details! I actually also used it as a swim coverup because it's so easy to throw on right over your bathing suit. It was on my Wishlist Wednesday a few posts back, and I wound up making the purchase when I saw it in person at Bloomingdale's. I will say that the straps were too long on me by about an inch - I am 5"4.5, so I suppose I'm just too short for the way it was designed. Regardless of the longer straps, I loved wearing it! So so cute and summery.

Today I was all over town, from Malibu to Santa Monica, and it was so busy! I tend to avoid Third Street Promenade in the summer because it is just a madhouse; the amount of tourists gets a little overwhelming. It's hard to drive, park, or even walk through the crowds. I did get to stop in to the King's Head pub for some take-away pastries - it's one of my mom's and my favorite stores there. Totally stop in to the pub shop if you ever find yourself in the area! But anyway...I'm off to catch up with the pugs & enjoy a round of Judge Judy episodes. Tell me I'm not the only one obsessed with law enforcement shows!! Hahah alrighty - thanks for stopping by xoxo

Hi everyone! I'm going to cover everything I know about using MyVegas to earn redeemable rewards in Vegas. On our most recent trip, we were able to redeem a night at Bellagio, 2 buffets, and 3 tickets to Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. The only thing we paid for were resort fees - not even parking!

So if you've never heard of MyVegas, it's free game you play through M-Life Rewards, which is the rewards program through all MGM hotels (this includes Aria, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, Mirage, Excalibur, Luxor, etc). It's accessible through the computer or the free app for your phone. You play slot machines with chips, and the more you play the more gold coins you earn. The gold coins are the key - the more you have, the more freebies you can redeem! Just a heads up- you have to have a Facebook and log in to the app with FB to redeem the rewards.

Caution: the way they get you on the game is through the chips; you get hooked on the game, run out of chips, then they try to get you to buy chips (with your real money). Take it from me - do not buy chips! It's totally unnecessary. You may hit some low points in the game where you run out of chips, but you can always win your way back up. As long as you have some chips and you can still bet on the slots, you can earn gold coins. The game usually emails you a coupon for free chips each day, and you can also earn daily bonuses and an allowance every 4 hours.

When you're ready to redeem a reward, you just go to the "Rewards" tab on the app. You select a hotel, and then it shows you all of the options available. Some of them are really good! For example, a two-night stay at Mandalay Bay is 60,000 coins. They also have tickets to Shark Reef is 12,500, and most of the buffets for the hotels are between 15,000-40,000 coins. The more expensive the hotels, the more gold coins you'll need for rewards. A complimentary room at Aria is 200,000 coins, while a free room at Luxor is only 18,000...ha! If you're playing enough, you can redeem up to 4 at once. All of your rewards are found in your wallet. Sidenote: the majority of the rewards can only be redeemed Sunday-Thursday. Sometimes you get lucky and there's one available for the weekend!

With that said, M-Life is a real stickler in terms of redemption rules. While you can redeem 4 rewards at once, if you happen to change your mind and cancel one, that counts as "using" one of them. So, plan accordingly and only book/redeem rewards you are sure you're going to use. Be sure to redeem your rewards weeks in advance from your trip, as a lot of them sell out quickly (especially the good ones).

As for parking, this is separate from MyVegas. M-Life Rewards has different levels of their program, and if you get on the Pearl status, it includes parking at all MGM hotels. This is huge, considering parking is $18/day at any MGM hotel! It also means you can go to and from different hotels, and you'll never get charged to move your car. They offer a free upgrade to active military and veterans, so my dad upgraded and our parking was reimbursed.

If you have any questions, please let me know! I've had a lot of experience with using the game and rewards for a few years now. I hope this post was helpful! xoxo

Current summer obsession: anything with palm print! I saw this skirt and ordered it right away for my trip. I couldn't wait to wear it in Vegas! I love it with the hat I've been wearing (it sold out, HERE is another one that I like) and the rattan circle bag I've had on with nearly every outfit as of late.

These photos were taken in the courtyard during my recent stay at the Bellagio hotel in Vegas. The grounds are just so pretty there! The heat flattened my hair, and I don't exactly know what I'm looking at in half of them, lol! But anyway - this outfit is my favorite. Gonna be wearing it on repeat. And the sandals are like...$15. Heads up - size up in the skirt. I've found most items at H&M to run quite small. I typically wear a 0, but I got this in a 2 and it fits just right.

Today I'm running lots of errands. Stopping in Sherman Oaks and I'm hoping to get lunch there (The Cheesecake Factory at the Galleria is my fav!) and maybe go to Fashion Square after! We're almost to Friday!! xoxo

Let's get this week off to a great start with a trip review - they're one of my favorite things to write about! Vegas is a place I love and hate at the same time. It's kind of just dirty, weird, and overall depressing. However, I love the hotels, pools, restaurants, and buffets, so I mainly take trips there just for those.

We haven't been to LV in a couple of years. This time around we chose Bellagio since we've never stayed there before. I love that hotel!! It's beautiful, and the grounds by the pool are just stunning. When we checked-in on Thursday, we found out our room had been given away - this seems to happen a lot in Vegas (it's happened at almost every hotel we've tried). If this ever happens to you, get excited! Because that means it's time for an upgrade!! Yes - we got a suite for our stay and it was fab-u-lous.

Our suite had three bathrooms - one had a sauna shower, and another one had a spa tub with jets. Each bathroom mirror had a TV in it - I watched Wheel of Fortune while doing my hair, hah! The closet also had 2 plush bathrobes, 2 pairs of spa slippers, and a nice hairbrush, plus plenty of space for clothing. The room they moved us to only had one bed, which didn't really work out because there were three of us. My dad's not in these photos, but he was there! And he had to sleep on the couch haha.

H&M - Scalloped Stripe Swimsuit

The way to Vegas was actually a DISASTER hahah. Our car A/C died halfway there (a 4-hour commute), and the road to Vegas is unbearable without air, to say the least. It was 117 degrees the day of our trip. Anyhow, we had to stop to the nearest Enterprise to rent a car, then park our car in a sketchy hotel parking lot (parking is not allowed at the car rental site). After all that, we didn't arrive at our hotel until about 6 o'clock at night - and we went STRAIGHT to the pool! Or should I say, pools! There are more than 5...I didn't even count them all.

Outside the Bellagio Fountain!
On me: Aqua Rainbow Stripe Midi Dress / Street Level rattan circle bag (similar here) / Nude heels
On my mom: Old Navy Lace-up Swing Dress (in "White Floral") / Reef Sandals

Later that night we went to the Mandalay Bay buffet using our MyVegas rewards. It's a free game that lets you earn real rewards! I am publishing an in-depth post about it this week because it's a lot of useful information that needs its own post. But anyway - we waltzed in totally free (no attached fees or charges) instead of what normally would have cost $32 per person, thanks to our rewards. The food was good, nothing life-changing though. I give it an 7.5/10.

On Friday morning, we got some pastries & coffee from Bellagio's Patisserie (really good) and headed to the pool. The Patisserie is so cool - it has melted chocolate cascading from the ceiling!

Kirra Strapless One-Piece (on sale for $15!) / Tilly's Cat Eye Sunglasses

Enjoying pastries & coffee by the pools was one of my favorite mornings. I suggest getting to the pool early - I thought I was sort of early getting out there at 9am, but it was already packed and hard to spot an open chaise. I did find some open tables that were in the midst of a couple of fountain pools and had a lovely view of the courtyard. I could spend all day there!

We spent Friday roaming around, inside though because it was 110 out haha. We ate at our favorite pizza place in the Paris hotel, then went through the shops at the Venetian.

And then came the afternoon...dun dun dun!! Lol!

We did not have a hotel for Friday night - our second night fell through, and we spent all of Friday looking for one. Some NBA event was going on, and every single room was sold out. If one happened to come available, it was around $500. So, we were trying to decide what to do - look for a hotel outside of Vegas? That didn't work out either. We ended up driving allllll the way home, then back to the car rental the next day.

Saturday morning, we got up bright and early and headed back to Enterprise. Truthfully, I only went because I was promised breakfast at Cracker Barrel on the way back heheh. Okay, maybe I was also going for moral support. Anyhow, we dropped off the car, and breakfast was so delicious!!! I've talked on here a few times about my love of poached eggs/eggs Benedict and which places get them right and wrong. Well, this is one of those places that definitely gets them right! Such good food. Plus I loooove sitting outside the restaurant in one of the rocking chairs.

After breakfast, we attempted the 2-hour trek home in are air conditioner-less car......we lasted less than 20 minutes. It. Was. BRUTAL. It was 112 degrees in the middle of the desert, and at least 120 inside the car. Rolling the windows down almost felt worse because the air was so hot it was sickening. So, we ended up at a Target waiting for a Triple A tow truck for 3 hours. When we finally got home, we went inside to an 86 degree house.....the house A/C also broke! All I can do is laugh about it hahah.

So yeah - this past visit to Vegas was not the best. It was rushed and a bit of a fiasco. Nonetheless, I did have a great time at the hotel, the pool, the buffet, and just getting out of town for a minute. I definitely recommend staying at the Bellagio. The Palazzo is still my favorite, but if you're looking to stay at an MGM property I would choose Bellagio or Mandalay Bay. I'll be back soon with that post on how you can earn freebies for Vegas! Thanks for stopping by...xoxo
